The N.E.W. League, established in the 1980’s, consists of competing teams in Columbus, Dublin, Marysville, Plain City, and Powell. The purpose of the North-East-West Swim League is to provide a complete swimming program for age group swimmers by conducting an annual competition through a series of dual meets to determine individual and team league champions. The NEW Swim League is a summer recreational league.

Practices: Held at Jerome Village Community Center Pool from 8-11 AM (times vary based on team size). The coaching staff will set practice times and announce them at the parent meeting before the season. Swimmers must attend at least three practices before each meet to compete. Practices and meets are organized by age groups:

• Girls and Boys 6 and Under | Girls and Boys 7-8 | Girls and Boys 9-10 | Girls and Boys 11-12 | Girls and Boys 13-14 | Girls and Boys 15-18
• Smaller age groups may practice together with separate plans as needed.

Meets: The 2025 Meet Schedule will be released in spring, with the first meet expected on the first Wednesday in June. All meets take place on Wednesday evenings, starting at 6 PM. Host team warm-ups begin at 5 PM; visiting team warm-ups begin at 5:25 PM. The season concludes with the CHAMPS meet, held mid-July at the Dublin North Community Pool.

Event Limits:

• 14 & under: up to 2 individual events + 2 relays per meet (4 events max)
• 15-18: up to 3 individual events + 2 relays per meet (5 events max)

The Jerome Village Swim Team will hold New Swimmer Evaluations prior to the season. All swimmers will need to complete the evaluation before joining the team. Dates, times, locations, and signups will be provided at a later date.

Ability Requirements: The Jerome Village Swim Team is not a replacement for swim lessons and all new swimmers must pass an evaluation.

• Swimmers 9 and older must be able to swim 50 meters (2 lengths of the lap pool) freestyle and 25-meter backstroke without stopping and with controlled breathing.
• Swimmers 8 and younger must be able to float comfortably on both front and back, and swim 25-meters freestyle and backstroke.

Swimmers who are unable to complete the evaluation requirements are welcome to register for swimming lessons which will be announced at a later date to better qualify for future participation.

Please note: Temperatures of Lap Pools are held at a lower temperature than recreational swimming pools.

Coaching opportunities will be posted in February 2025 in preparation of the 2025 Jerome Village Jaws swim team which will begin in March 2025.

Why are parent volunteers essential? Parent volunteers are the backbone of the swim season and help to ensure meets and events run smoothly and efficiently.

What are the volunteer needs for meets? Volunteer needs vary depending on whether meets are hosted or away.

• Hosted Meets: These require all hands-on deck. We need a large number of volunteers to fill various roles and ensure everything runs smoothly.
• Away Meets: These typically require fewer volunteers, generally around 15-20.

How many times per season are volunteers needed? Volunteer requirements depend on the number of swimmers who join the JV Jaws. Last season, parents were required to volunteer three times per registered swimmer.

Are there other volunteer opportunities? Yes! In addition to meet volunteering, parents can contribute to Fun-Fridays or help at CHAMPS.

What do parents get for volunteering? Once parents meet volunteer requirements, raffle ticket(s) will be awarded at the end of the season banquet for a variety of prizes.

Is there a consequence for not meeting volunteer requirements? To ensure necessary support is met, there is a fee of $250 per swimmer if parent volunteer requirements are not met. This helps cover the costs of hiring additional swim staff.
